Yankton College was the first institution of higher learning in the Dakota
Territory, providing a quality liberal arts education to thousands before
closing in 1985. Among its distinctions are the Conservatory of Music,
School of Theology, Clark Observatory, the first Shakespearean outdoor
Garden Terrace Theatre, several Rhodes Scholars, influential faculty and a
record breaking athletic program. Student records, historical documents,
college memorabilia and merchandise are available at the administrative
office located at the north end of the Summit Activities Center. Open
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. or by appointment.
Riverside Park

The Riverside Park Amphitheatre is available for events throughout the
year. Concerts in the Park are held every Tuesday at 8 p.m. during June,
July and August. Each week a different band performs an outdoor concert.
Bands come from outside Yankton, as well as local groups. No admission.
The amphitheatre is also available for private functions, to make
reservations contact the Parks and Recreation Department.

RiverWalk is a public art project
focused on bringing outdoor
sculptures to downtown Yankton
and Riverside Park. New
sculptures will be installed annually in May for the public to enjoy. Each
year the public has the opportunity to vote for their favorite sculpture, the
People’s Choice Award. Votes will be tabulated at the end of each year. The
winner will be announced each May, at the sculpture artist celebration.

Come check out a movie at the Carmike Cinemas located in the Yankton
Mall. With five theaters, there is an assortment of movies to see. Movies
play nightly, along with matinees on weekends and holidays.
Summit Activities Center Theatres

Yankton High School and community events are held at the Summit
Activities Center Theatre throughout the year. The main theatre seats 976
and has advanced light and sound, overhead screen and a large stage. The
lecture theatre seats 106 and has a retractable wall, dry board and
overhead screens. To make reservations contact the Summit Activities

Spend an evening – or afternoon – enjoying a production by the Lewis &
Clark Theatre Company. The beautiful art deco style building was built in
1902 and has recently undergone many renovations: climate controls, stateof-the-art lights and sound system, new décor and much more! The Theatre
has productions scheduled and awaiting guests. Come enjoy the many

Marian Auditorium is a 630-seat proscenium theatre located in the
southwest corner of the Mount Marty College campus. The theatre has
been host to a variety of college and community events as well as
professional presenters and performers from across the globe. Many
events are free and open to the public and are promoted through the

Located on top of scenic Calumet Bluff, the Lewis & Clark Visitor Center
overlooks the Missouri River and Lewis and Clark Lake. Operated by the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Park Service, this center
offers early history of the Missouri River and Lewis and Clark, a theater,
wildlife displays and a view of Gavins Point Dam. Off-season hours include
late February through Memorial Day and Labor Day through November,
Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Summer hours include Memorial
Day through Labor Day, Sunday - Thursday from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Friday Saturday from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
